Two pool masters after reboot 10 years 5 months ago #139

Hello,

I can't figure if I did something wrong or is it normal behavior.
I have installed XenServer 6.2.0 on two servers, installed and configured iscsi-ha and ha-lizard. When I reboot pool master, pool server becomes a master, everything works ok. But when previous pool master becomes available again, both servers stay pool masters. iscsi-ha works correctly, only I can't add host to XenCenter. It says "The server you are connecting to has been restored from a backup", "This is a potentially dangerous operation and is not allowed". If I issue command xe pool-recover-slaves on rebooted host, the new second host becomes slave again, iscsi-ha also becomes a slave on the same host.

A "graceful" reboot can result in unexpected behaviour.

In general, a warm reboot is not recommended while HA is active. If you need to simulate a real crash, try "echo B > /proc/sysrq-trigger". This will immediately reboot the host and not interfere with HA.

We will look into whether there is anything we can do to prevent this scenario from happening without compromising HA. If we come up with something we will update you here.

I wanted to see if HA works correctly. Just issued reboot command from pool master command line.

We have been unable to replicate your results when rebooting one of the servers. Can you post the ha-lizard configuration here? Use "ha-cfg get" from the shell to get the configuration parameters.

Thanks

I have removed all installation and will try to install everything from the beginning again.
Will send information when finished.

Hello,

I had problems with server RAID controllers so only now solved it and re-installed Xenserver and HA-Lizard. Now everything works correctly: shutting down Srv1 (master), Srv2 becomes master. When Srv1 starts again, it becomes slave.
I have one questions: how to do master transition back to Srv1? Should I only change the pool master with "xe pool-designate-new-master" command? Will DRBD and Target change too?
