It appears that the root cause is due to XAPI hanging at times.

Although this is not a fix, you can suppress the email alert by editing /etc/ha-lizard/ha-lizard.conf on each host in the pool. If you scroll down to the bottom there is section which allows you to enable/disable email alert per function. Based on the log snippet you sent you will need to suppress email alerts for "xe_wrapper" by changing the default setting of 1 to 0.

Excellent, thank you for the help with this. Do I need to restart any services for the setting to take effect?

You don't need to restart any services. The change will be picked up automatically a few seconds after saving the file.

So far the setting of 60 seconds has fixed the email notifications about XAPI. But, once in a while I now get an email notification about only one of the two hosts, that says:

Failed to update global pool configuration settings in /etc/ha-lizard/ha-lizard.pool.conf - Check Configuration!

Is there also a setting that can help with this, as well? I wasn't sure which one would apply to this particular alert. Everything seems to be running fine when this alert comes through.

This occurs when the XAPI interface does not respond to a query within 10 seconds. It may be due to poor performance on your master or a clock sync issue. Regardless, this alert cannot be suppressed in the same way as the last one you experienced. You should look into why the pool is experiencing occasional hanging or disable email alerts.
