That seems to have done the trick - the storage is working now on the master only and vm's are up! Thank you!

Good to hear that worked for you.
Before your server lost power did you happen to have xenserver ha enabled? Meaning native xenserver HA instead of HA-lizard HA?

Yes, I did - wasn't aware that this is not a good thing.

Thanks for confirming that. That was the root cause. When the xenserver ha is enabled halizard will disable itself which leaves you with native HA that does not reliably support a 2 host pool.

We'll look into adding an alert in a future release so that users are aware of the condition.

Yeah, I had no idea. Do you have documentation that I missed that tells me that I should not turn on Xenserver HA?
I guess I find it surprising that this would not be "in my face" in some type of quick start guide or end user agreement that I am forced to agree to before downloading the product. Because HA is common and is built into Xencenter, and why wouldn't I use it without knowing better?

But regardless, thanks for the product and for your help on the forum last night.

I did check and there is an email alert that gets triggered when both HAs are running.

FYI - Xenserver does not support 2-host HA (never has). Most HA-Lizard deployments are 2 hosts pools with the added benefit of being hyper-converged with the storage replication and management.
