We've got a 3rd host at the DC which I would like to add to the pool. The host will not form part of HA-lizard or it's configuration, it's just simpler for us to have all of our hosts in a single pool from the same DC.

I understand by design HAL works with a 2 node pool. If there is no HAL configuration etc done on the 3rd host, will it impact the other 2 servers at all or is it better to just keep the 3rd host as a non-pool member in xencenter?

Adding a 3rd host will prevent you from using high availability since you cannot have the 3rd host take over as master. If your 3rd host has the same hw specs as the pool, you can run it standalone and still move vms between the pools with xencenter.

Thanks Salvatore, I've started testing extensively (you can see my post in the other board).

We've got it partially to work, really looking forward to the end result. I've rereading the reference documentation to ensure I understand all the components fully as I have had a couple of running issues.
