HA not working as expected 9 years 8 months ago #301

Hi, guys.
Yes, turning FENCE ENABLED setting to 1 did the trick. I do not know why and when did this got disabled as I am sure it was enabled when I configured everything.
Thanks all for spotting that out.
When I waited for the other host to start the VM's, I saw in the log this line:
ha-lizard-ERROR-/etc/ha-lizard/ha-lizard.sh: /etc/ha-lizard/ha-lizard.func: line 841: Stopping: command not found

Can someone explain what does it mean? I think it has something to do with the FENCE ACTION setting.

Now, when HA is working, I have 2 more questions:
- as I have HP servers with ILO, should I use FENCE METHOD ILO or POOL,
- installation manual is great but I miss guidances how to test the set-up in case of emergency or failed host, network...

Regarding ILO, that is a personal choice. Addiing STONITH to the pool will further reduce the possibility of split brain and generally a good idea. Please note that the ILO interface was developed around HP ILO 2 and has not been tested with more recent ILO versions (3+). You should test it to ensure it works against your ILO version. If you do test, please post your test results.

The ILO configuration is documented in the HA-Lizard manual (different than the howto document you followed to build the system). You can download from our web site or here: halizard.org/release/doc/ha-lizard/HA-Lizard_1.7.7.pdf

Regarding the error you noticed. It is unclear without further testing. Can you post the exact test procedure you used so that we can try to replicate it? It is likely a harmless error and possibly due to redirected STDOUT being interpreted incorrectly.

I tried ILO fencing so "successfully" that I got 2 pool masters.
I have HP iLO 2 Advanced and changing ha-cfg settings I was not able to get it working.
For tests I was unplugging management network on host 2. Depending of ha-cfg settings, I got different situations:
- quorum not having enough members (FENCE ABORTED),
- host 1 (working one!) rebooting and self fencing,
- host 1 rebooting and becoming master (got 2 pool masters).

Because this is a test setup, I was not doing this more methodologically. It was just change one setting -> unplug LAN cable and wait.

As far as the error goes - I am trying to replicate it. So far, unsuccessful.
