New Install not failing over when Primary is powered off 2 years 2 months ago #2756

Hello,

I am testing a new install on Hypervisor 8.2 with two hosts using the NOSAN installer. In XenCenter I can put the Master/Primary into Maintenance Mode and the cluster fails over no problem. I used IPMI to immediately power off the Primary and the Secondary just sits there and never fails over. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance

Can you post logs from the secondary for the time period of the failover test.
/var/log/user.log should have everything needed to figure out what is going on.

It looks like HA is disabled - preventing the secondary host from promoting to pool master
"Sep 21 13:29:59 ch-pool2022b ha-lizard: 18772 ha-lizard is disabled - exiting"

You can verify this with "ha-cfg status"

There are several ways to enable HA for the pool.

1) from xencenter/xcpng-center (see documentation for this. FYI - HA-lizard HA is not the same as the default HA shipped with citrix or XCP-ng, it is enabled differently. Also, if you enable both the citrix/xcp-ng HA AND ha-lizard, ha-lizard will detect this and disable itself.

2) from the shell "ha-cfg ha-enable"

3) from the shell "ha-cfg status" (you will be prompted to type <yes> to toggle ha enabled/disabled
