Halizard noSAN + Local Storage 3 years 10 months ago #2030

Hi there!

I was upgrading/moving some VMs yesterday for a new pair of servers running Halizard NoSAN and I was wondering if is there any problem of running some VMs with HA enabled on the noSAN iSCSI created by Halizard and also having other VMs running just on separated additional Local Storage without HA.

These new servers have much more processing power and RAM, but storage is running low and its expensive at the moment, so I would allocate some non critical VMs without the synced/shared storage (Xen Orchestra, some virtual desktops that I only use for maintenance and tests).

Thank you,
Carlos Marchi

Hi Carlos,
This will work fine. The VMs on local storage would still get some benefit as HA-Lizard would act as a watchdog for them and start them automatically in the event of an unexpected host reboot. In the event that a true HA event occurs, the surviving host would trigger an alert if the VM's storage is not local, but this is a harmless hourly alert.
